Staygold ("we", "our", or "us") operates the staygold mobile application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Apple user identifier (if you sign in with Apple)
• First name (if provided via Apple Sign In)
• Email address (if provided via Apple Sign In)

Journal Content

Your gratitude entries, chat messages, and photos are stored on our servers to power the Service and sync across sessions. This content is sent to third-party AI providers to generate responses (see Section 5).

Device & Technical Data

• Push notification token (via Expo) to send reminders you've opted into
• We do not collect device IDs, advertising identifiers, or IP addresses in stored form

Data Stored on Your Device

The mobile app stores the following locally on your device:

• Your authentication token (stored securely via the device keychain)
• Onboarding and preference state

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Generate AI responses relevant to your journal entries
• Personalize your gratitude journaling experience over time
• Send push notification reminders you've configured
• Authenticate your identity and secure your account
• Analyze usage trends and product performance (in aggregate, never individually identifiable)

3. Analytics

We do not currently use third-party analytics services. We do not set cookies. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

• Apple Sign In — authenticates your identity; Apple shares your email and name with us on first sign-in per their privacy architecture
• OpenAI / Anthropic — generates AI responses. Your messages are sent to the AI provider to produce replies. Please review their respective privacy policies
• Amazon Web Services (S3) — stores photos you attach to entries
• Expo — delivers push notifications
• Railway — hosts our backend infrastructure

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as described in this policy:

• With AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) to generate responses to your journal entries
• With infrastructure providers (AWS, Railway) to host and deliver the Service
• If required by law, regulation, or legal process
• To protect the rights, safety, or property of Staygold, our users, or the public

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account data and journal content for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the Settings page in the app. When you delete your account, we will delete:

• Your account information (name, email, Apple ID)
• Your journal entries, chat messages, and session data
• Your photos stored in cloud storage
• Your reminder and notification preferences

Deletion is permanent. Some data may be retained if required by law.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and secure token storage on your device. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Children's Privacy

staygold is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
